On Tuesday 3rd November I went onto the South Bank to take some images that paid homage to one of the “styles” of Trent Parke. From the RPS Monovision Challenge 3 workshop, hosted by Simon Ellingworth, we had reviewed images in an earlier session from Trent Parke.
In this documentary Trent discusses taking images across a street of pedestrians. This was the style that I planned do my own version of.
I choose the South Bank as I hoped to be able to take images of people walking towards me that I could then process back at home. On my camera I had a 24-15mm F/4 lens with an ND10 filter and settings of ISO 12,800. +2 stops exposure at 1/30 sec.
After (sometimes severe) cropping I made the background as bright as possible, adding grain and the upscaled the images.
This man in glasses was taken with a hedge behind but I liked the pattern inn the final image behind him.

I kept this woman’s hands and folder in the image after cropping.

The image that I am happiest with.

Other images
I made my way along the South Bank in the rain. When I reached London Bridge I caught a train back to Waterloo.
