I used my Peak Design travel tripodd in July at an astro-photography workshop. The screw on the plate under my camera came loose, making life very difficult trying to take long exposure images. Of course, if I had taken any of the hex keys provided with the plate or the tripod I could have tightened it up . . .
I choose to have the TiPod screws in a different finish to those provided by Peak Design so that I would easily know which ones I had in use.
Here is the original screw on my camera.
The screw was a little ‘tight’ when I replaced the original Peak Design ones. As recommended I used a hex key to tighten up initially.
Now I can tighten the plate with a coin if I have forgotten the allen key again!
