While I was away in Wales at the Mach Loop this image won the club’s Portfolio competition. This is a member’s competition when the members judge submitted issues and add their own often jokey comments. There is a cup for the winner and a bottle of wine for the best comment.

The original image
This image came from our landing on South Georgia at Stromness. This had been one of the whaling stations on the island and was now abandoned. It was too dangerous to visit the buildings due to asbestos hazards so we remained on the beach while some of our fellow passengers walked walked inland to Shackleton Falls.
One of our fellow passengers wanted to video these two penguins and to take pictures of the gentoos and seals. He compromised by placing his second camera on the rocky beach before dashing off. I tried to get a picture at the back of his camera but decided the camera and the penguins were the shot. The penguins were not as cooperative initially though!
