The week of the 6th July was the last week of the show “Kinky Boots” at the London Coliseum. This London theatre was on St Martin’s Lane and was a theatre that we had never been to before.

It was not a surprise that all photography was banned during the performance but these are some images to give a flavour of the impressive interior of the Theatre.
The evening performance that we watched had Johannes Radebe as “Lola.”
The performance was wonderful and the everyone in the theatre was standing and enjoying the glorious finale of the show …
Waterloo Station
After our short tube journey we were waiting for our train when we could hear the unmistakable sound of a steam train whistle. I may only have had my iPhone but I headed towards the sounds of steam!
At first I stayed on the station concourse…
Then I joined the throng on the platform…
The Network Rail staff were as excited as we all were and there were no issues going through the barriers to get closer. Our platform was called for our train to Farnborough and luckily we were on the next platform!
Now when the whistle blew and being close when the sound reverberated around the station it was a reminder of past journeys – fabulous!
Then as our train arrived the steam train backed out with the wonderful sound of the steam chuffing and more whistles!
Southern Railways Merchant Navy Class 35028 Clan Line
Clan Line was built in 1938 and retired from British Railways in 1966.
She is preserved by The Merchant Navy Locomotive Society and this is their blog about the 9th July 2026 journey.
