After our busy day we tried to have a less travelling on this Sunday.
The breakfast in the Brasserie 32 had no choice of cereals but I can recommend the porridge with banana and maple syrup. On Saturday the banana was sliced this morning it came as fruit balanced on the side of the plate. I did get more maple syrup though!
Sunday 19th July 2026: Chipping Norton
We followed the signs to the free long term car park. This early in the morning it was empty. Despite a few visits to the Cotswolds earlier we hadn’t called here before. Compared to Stow it was a lot less interesting and we walked the main street, up and down across the road. There maybe more interesting sights but we headed back to the car after 30 minutes.
The car park maybe free put the public loos required a 20p coin! We’ll stick to Stow for our future shopping urges in the Cotswolds.
Sunday 19th July 2026: Cotswold Lavender
It was after 12:30 when we reached Cotswold Lavender. Every time we visit there has been many changes. The roads to get there from Chipping Norton are still extremely narrow. Once we had paid our entrance fee we headed for a cup of coffee. My advice would be to buy a tea or a cold drink as the lattes we were served were disgusting and only served to water the grass.
I was surprised at the low numbers of bees as I walked through the lavender compared to Mayfield Lavender in Surrey. Here there were plantings of many different varieties as well as the rows of the cash crop. Picnic tables and sheltered benches were close by. There were walks around the woods as well as around the large wild flower patches.
Yes, the child is high in the air!
Sunday 19th July 2026: Broadway Tower
We took a diversion and drove through Broadway. But as expected the place was packed and there were no obvious places to park. Closer to Broadway Tower we parked in a nearby field as we were told the parking at the side of the restaurant was full – so another £5.
From the field we we walked down to the restaurant and sat inside to have a late lunch just after 2 pm.
The deer in the enclosed field were away from the restaurant side but we could see them from the approach to the tower.
The deer were tame and we watched them being stroked through the fence.
Sunday 19th July 2026: Heythrop Park
After another roast dinner, this time brisket, I enjoyed my third Affogato.
No queuing this time for the Late Lounge. We watched the opening (house?) act before watching Vocal Xtreme.
Monday 20th July 2026: Heythrop Park
Just as a smile, here’s a picture of the large bathroom which had a bath as well as a walk-in shower. The only difficulty was where the dispensers had to be placed, even I was on tip tow to try and get soap to wash my hands.
After another excellent breakfast of porridge, Maple syrup and a banana it was time to leave. For the record the service in the Brasserie 32 was excellent with cheerful servers who chatted with us as they delivered food or took our orders.
