On Thursday 22nd October we had tickets for the matinee performance of Moulin Rouge at the Piccadilly Theatre. We left Farnborough on a train at around midday. Before we left the Network Rail track cleaning system made an appearance on the slow down line opposite to us.

At Waterloo we had lunch at Pret before I made a quick visit to Leake Street.

They were being watched by a sizable crowd.

After all the recent rain my favourite puddle was even larger .
Then it was time to head off to Piccadilly for Moulin Rouge.
Moulin Rouge – The Musical
On each side of the theatre actors appeared and then on the stage …

The songs in the show were all from top 100 over the last decades. This explained the the announcement asking guests not to sing-along with the actors!
At the break I bought (very expensive) ice-creams and this is the view from the other side of the theatre.
The show lasted longer than we had planned and we only had 25-30 minutes to get across London to the steakhouse.
Trafalgar Square
We rushed down towards Piccadilly Circus and I was able to hail a cab as it left Regents Street. The cabbie warned us that a tour bus had demolished a souvenir stand and we should expect delays.
The queue down from the National Gallery past the Canadian consulate took nearly 20 minutes before we could make the turn and head towards the City. The tour bus had been removed by earlier but the roads were still blocked.
This is the Lady in Blue, a 9-foot-tall painted bronze sculpture by American artist Tschabalala Self, installed on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square. Our views of the blocked roads…
I rang the restaurant and warned them that we would be a late arrival.
London Steakhouse

This was a Virgin Experience bought nearly a year ago and was for a five course meal plus a flight of cocktails. The steakhouse was full and for the first time we were shown to a table up the steps into the upper room.
Waterloo Station
We walked down Bishopsgate to catch the Underground at Monument station. Leadenhall Market was rammed as was the pub further down.
Another building had been demolished.

As we crossed to Monument there mannequins caught my eye.
At waterloo we discovered that all trains to Basingstoke and beyond were cancelled due to a “police incident” between Woking and Brookwood. Luckily for us the line to Bracknell was open so we switched and caught a slow train there. It was a short train and was rammed with passengers.
When we were at Farnborough to pick up our car 90 minutes later there was a train at the London bound platform not moving.
