This was was the start of the two day Paris street photography workshop with Valérie Jardin. Yesterday evening we had had our introduction meeting and then a shared evening meal. Before the meetings I had spent the day walking from Montmartre to the 5th.
I have split the day’s workshop into two posts; morning and then afternoon and evening.
Day 3: Saturday 24th January 2026: The first day of Valérie’s workshop

I was too early for the Pret on Sorbonne Place so I had to have breakfast in one of the cafes there. I was joined by another member of the workshop.
We met in front of the Pantheon and headed up Rue Clotaire. This meant we were close to locations from “Emily in Paris”.
On Rue Malebranche we passed the Hotel de Senlis. This was the first hotel I stayed in on workshops and for a year or so was boarded up. Further down Rue Malebranche are the steps and another location from “Emily in Paris”.

The Luxembourg Gardens

Then we headed out of the gardens to the 6th.
Église Saint-Sulpice

From the gardens we crossed and went down Rue Ferou. On the walls to our left were lots of letters, a great opportunity …
After a short time in the church I headed back up Rue Ferou for a turn shooting close to the wall.
I waited in the Place Saint-Sulpice for the others to leave the church.

Rue de Seine (In the 6th)

Next up was the area of the Rue de Seine. Walking from the Place Saint-Sulphite meant we approached from a new direction for me. So suddenly I recognised where I was!

This time I didn’t sit in the recovered chairs left on the corner!
Small exclusive coffee place.

Bar du Marché

A pint of IPA plus a Croque Madame for lunch at the Bar du Marché. We managed to have the tables at the back all pushed together.
The bistro was packed and when the time came to pay was when chaos ensued. We had to pay for our own bills, of course, but the itemised bill was less than clear what the items were. Then someone was overcharged on their card and after lots of confusion (and a lots of angst) the refund was in Euros which was not appreciated.
The owner(?) was heard to complin loudly about our custom!
I went outside as soon as I could to take pictures. Once we were all outside we headed off towards the Pont des Arts for our afternoon.
