Yesterday we had had a very day around the Snæfellsnes peninsular and now we were in the capital city, Reykjavik. Our dock was in a very different place than earlier visits and we had to take a coach to the city rather than walk.
Day 24: Friday 21st July 2023: Europe and Iceland:Reykjavik, Iceland
After breakfast in the buffet we caught the complimentary coach.
The coach dropped us off outside of the Harpa Concert Hall.
From the concert hall we walked into the city looking for the streets that would lead us up to the cathedral. We passed a lot of street art.
Coffee time
Reykjavik Cathedral
While we stood in front of the cathedral more Bikers arrived. We were told by passers-by that there was a funeral for a rider taking place. The cathedral was closed (we were told) for anyone else.
Walking back towards the concert hall this large mural was still there in a small cul-de-sac.
Then we were back at the concert hall waiting for a coach back at just after 1pm.
We ate with our US friends after playing Rummikub (we did find a set eventually.) I chose to have calves liver…
Day 25: Saturday 22nd July 2023: Europe and Iceland:Reykjavik, Iceland
I was ill all night with an upset stomach.
I slept most of the day and couldn’t eat.
Day 26: Sunday 23rd July 2023: Europe and Iceland:Reykjavik, Iceland

I managed a very light breakfast in the buffet.
After a light lunch I watched movies in the cabin with finger’s crossed that I would be OK for the formal evening. Chatting to our friends we heard about their upsets after the meal in Reykjavik and about others like me who had had a really bad experience. I will avoid liver in future on ships.
AFter our evening meal we skipped the farewell party for an early night, ready for our day in Greenock.
