After another time change for Tallinn, we did at least try to get some extra rest after our busy day yesterday in Stockholm. The downside was just how bright the day was very early!
We had two sea days after Tallinn and another attempt to land at Visby on the 7th.

Day 8: Wednesday 5th July 2023 Tallinn, Estonia

After breakfast as we left the ship, we could see the changes to Tallinns’ “cruise port “. There was now a new cruise terminal.
Island Princess was docked next to an even larger AIDA ship.
To the Fat Tower
Once we were out of the new building, our walk was familiar. On our left was the large ferry port car park and we simply followed the path (now tarmac) until we reach the busy main road that circled Tallinn.

Over the road we passed the WW2 bunker’s low hill and walked to the gates of the “Fat Tower”.

We walked along the streets until we came to the main square. We walked up towards the Old Town to have a look at the micro brewery that we love but it didn’t open until 1 pm.
Upper Town

The steps up to the up to the upper town were busy as we made our way up. Once at the top the streets around the upper town were also very busy. Walking tours from the ships were coming past us in both directions as we walked up to the viewpoint.
After taking pictures at the viewpoint further back down the road we came to a café that looked interesting with lots of artwork and best of all only had one other couple inside.
After our coffees we walked past the Orthodox Cathedral and down the steep road to the lower town. As we walked the rain started.
This lady was sheltering on one of the benches nearly halfway down the hill.
Lunch
One of the other local breweries had a bar just after the gate at the bottom of the hill. We’ve been there for lunch before on an earlier visit. It was closed, but after a short wait it was noon and then we were let into the bar out of the rain.
The local beer was as good as always and we both had fish and chips by the time we had finished unrested after all our walking the rain had finally stopped.
Back to the Cruise terminal and leaving Tallinn
We walked back to the Fat Tower as I looked for street art with no luck.

Back at the cruise terminal, another cruise ship had arrived, an MSC ship.
Leaving Tallinn in the late afternoon.

Dinner was a busy affair as we sat with French, Canadians, Australian, a couple from Jersey and a Spanish gentleman.
After games of Rummikub with our friends from the USA, I watched the sunset over the Baltic between games.
