Saturday 11th July was my third Summer 2026 organised street photography walk in London for members of Farnborough Photography Club (FPC.) Our plan was to be early in Chinatown and Soho. We met at Farnborough Main for the 7:30 am train to Waterloo.
Once at Waterloo we went down to Leake Street and then back to The Sidings for breakfast at the Lion and Unicorn.

We enjoyed our breakfast and the chats and were a little later than planned heading out to Leicester Square.

Chinatown
I planned to make juts one circuit of Chinatown.
The windows were not covered in steam probably due to the 29C weather.

Definitely not as interesting as my early visit back in October 2025. By the time we left up Macclesfield Street and went into Soho the tourists were flooding in.
Soho
The Soho photo booth shop was as busy as ever for tourists…

There was a painting by @abraham.o1 in the window of the art supply shop.

I was surprised at the number of shops closed up for the day around Soho.

Reflections on a Porsche…

Moor Street leads into the very busy Cambridge Circus next to the Harry Potter theatre. Outside the Cambridge pub next to a telephone sits a pissoir – one of the few I regularly come across in London. No photos of it being used!
The market down Earlham Street was full of stalls but sadly not many people around them.

Seven Dials
I sat at the base of the monument watching motorists going round and round. SatNavs seem to get “lost” in this are or maybe it is the number of pedestrians walking everywhere?

In retrospect I should have joined my colleagues on the outside of the circle as they did capture some great images of passers by with rim lighting in their hair.
Lunch in the Seven Dials Market
We headed away from the the monument and went into the Seven Dials Market for lunch.

I headed for “go to” lunch spot – Dirty Bagels. I love watching the cheese of the pulled pork being melted using a blow torch…
Covent Garden
From the market we walked down Earlham Street to Neil Street and walked up towards Covent Market. We were now firmly on tourist central despite the heat.

The exit for Covent Garden Underground station was full of people.

At the end of James Street we headed for St Pauls (the Actor’s Church). In the courtyard is the bronze statue “The Conversion of Saint Paul” where Saul is depicted falling off his horse.

We walked down Kings Street till we reached Floral Court.

At Floral Street we paused.
And then to the lsst photo spot of the day – Conduit Court…

From there after a brief stop at Fujifilm House of Photography we headed down St Martin’s Lane towards Trafalgar Square.
Charing Cross Underground
I was fascinated by this lady’s jacket full of badges and she agreed to pose.

Bakerloo Line …

And up the escalators o Waterloo and the end of the walk.
