In the afternoon on Friday 10th July I visited the Mayfield Lavender Farm with a colleague from Farnborough Photography Club. This day was promised to be in one of the best weeks for visiting the farm to see the lavender in full bloom…

… and we were not disappointed. After our journey around the M25 we welcomed our coffees and crepes for lunch. Then it was time to explore the lavender again.
The bees were all out in force but my first “chase” was for these butterflies.

Back to the bees…
I am not an “expert” in photographing insects – I leave that up to my colleague, Paul Hendley – but, this cricket did pose momentarily for me.

Almost at the top of the hill I meet Jodi who was experimenting taking portraits for a project. Here I was with a 100mm lens for macro work but also good for portraits…

I have shared all my images and here are the other portraits.

The lavender gently swayed in the light breeze.

The telephone box and love seat both offerred different opportunities.

Later I discovered that I had photo bombed one of Paul’s images …

After a refreshing cold drink and a long rest, we visited the shop one more time before leaving.
I have to thank the invitation from SOAPBOX Events on behalf of Mayfield Lavender Farm for this visit and the great advice of when to come and see the lavender in first bloom.
