Farnborough Photography Club had organised a street and architecture photography walk to Battersea starting at around 10 am. I had planned to catch the 9:30 train but thanks to hay fever I was awake very early and caught the 7:15 instead.
Leake Street
Before breakfast I visited Leake Street.
Wetherspoons was empty when I had my breakfast but by the time I was joined by my colleagues after 10 am there were wedding parties as well as the usual groups of visitors and families.
The muffin and tea were on offer and priced less than the muffin alone. The walk started with a visit to Lower Marsh Street and a coffee. This guy was being photographed by a photographer and nearby four visitors posed.
After our coffees we walked to Waterloo to catch the Northern Line extension to Battersea Power Station.

Not sure why, but this short journey produced more ear splitting noise from the train on the tracks than is usual on the Underground.
Battersea Power Station
From the Underground Station we walked along Electric Boulevard to the power station.
We split up to explore the spaces. I went inside looking for the Mr Brainwash mural that I had seen on earlier visits. After walking around both turbine halls on all levels I gave up and headed for the Clarendon Art Gallery. I knew that they promoted his art and I hoped they could point me to the mural. The mural has now “gone”. I did have a long chat with the folks min the gallery about their art on the art I had seen in the Stow gallery. They’d seen the 3D art that was in Stow too. This made me late for the meet up plus I had no images from inside!
The M&S store off Electric Boulevard had sandwiches to go and we all sat outside having a late lunch at 12:30. I made an effort to get some more street and architecture images before we left. I had kept my camera away while I walked round and around and learnt that my colleagues had been challenged by security inside with their cameras. I’ll stick to my iPhone when I next visit inside.
Nine Elms
From the power station we walked along Nine Elms Lane until we reached New Union Square. Then we reached the small park with lily ponds. I was surprised at the number of dragonflies that we could see.
The US Embassy was closed and there was a gathering on the patio. The entrance had armed Met police both at the entrance and patrolling around the area.
This was my first visit to the “new” embassy.
The other photo opportunity that brought us to Nine Elms was the sky pool.
On Ponton Road is a sculpture called “Modern Marriage“. On the opposite side of the foot a wedding ring is embedded into the foot’s sole.
South Bank
After another very noisy and ear splitting tube ride back to Waterloo we headed for a brief visit to the South Bank. We walked through the street food market.
On an earlier walk, Chris (aka UrbanBean46) had taken an image of these steps and thanks to his “eye” I made my version.

From Cab Road we went into the station entrance there. This is where I had spent a lot of time with David Rutter in February 2026.
A few quick reflection shots and then we caught a slightly delayed train back to Farnborough (delayed meant we had time to catch it on platform 9!)
