This is the third day of the Hurtigruten Coastal Express going North. After our stop in Ålesund the day before, we looked forward to spending time in Trondheim again.
Open sea warning summary
Open sea Hustadvika 11:45 until 1:45 am
Overnight we did get a bit of movement as the ship transited the open seas.
Kristiansund – arrive 2:45 am
The Dutch lady and I were the only people out on deck as we came into Christian son. The road at the side of the dock was familiar from our earlier visits. My surprise was when the search light from the side of the bridge we used to sweep the water as a ship approached the dock.
We have spent time in Kristiansund on our unscheduled 2023 visit to see the Northern light that ran into lots of bad weather.
This is the street we walked up to explore the parks of Kristiansund.
The passenger platform was only down for a short while. Crew members were out on the dock getting the cars that were lined up onto the ship. I could only guess that these were being delivered up North as no one actually joined the ship.

Havilla Kystruten – 9:35 am

This was the first Havilla ship that I had seen.
Munkholmen island
Trondheim – arrive 9:45 am
MS Nordkapp reversed onto the dock in Trondheim. We could see the whole dock was covered in snow. Beyond we could see waiting coaches and taxis.
We must’ve been the last people to leave the ship to head off into the city.
We threaded our way past the office blocks until eventually we came to the rock museum. This was familiar to us and we walked carefully until we reach the bridge and ramp to get us over the railway tracks. On the city side of the bridge at the station there is a lift which is a great alternative to risking the stairs.

We did a circular walk around the shops.
Coffee time
We stopped for a latte and a cake in a small cafe.
The pavements were either clear, all covered in ice or slush. After several slides on ice we decided to walk back to the ship.
Bridge over the railway
The ramp on the other side was full of people who are just disembarked off a ferry. We just held the rails and waited until the ramp was clear.
The walk back towards the Rock Museum was so different than on our last visit to Trondheim.
Loading the ship in Trondheim
We were back at the ship just before noon and watched a car being loaded.
This is the snack bar/cafe on the ship. In Trondheim Nordkapp was hooked up to the electrical supply and had turned off her engins.
The warehouse opposite had a great message.
Who knows why we were taught to fear the witches and not those who burned them alive?
Munkholmen island
Munkholmen is an island about 2 kilometers off Trondheim. It has been used for many things in the past but is now a tourist spot in the Summer.
Sailing to Rørvik

Kjeungskjaer lighthouse – 3:30 – 3:45 pm
The Jeungskjaer lighthouse a coastal lighthouse in Ørland Municipality in Trøndelag county.
To Rørvik
We passed an onshore wind farm…
and then a radar station.
This light house had a fish farm close by.

Evening meal- 8 pm
Rørvik – arrive 9:40 pm
Rørvik is in the Vikna archipelago. MS Nordkapp a little early than schedules.
MS Richard With – 9:35 pm
