Open seas:
Times of passing ships:

Yesterday we missed ports and had some very rough weather on way South. The storm continued through the night. We looked forward to some time onshore in Brønnøysund. Overnight our cabin being so close to the bow meant that we had the huge crash as the bow hit a wave and then the exaggerated fall and rise as MS Nordkapp pushed her way through .
And we missed two more ports Bodø, and Ørnes.
Bodø – arrive at 2:30am
Ørnes – arrive at 6:25 am
After our rough night I went out on deck early.

The view at 7:49 am.
And then nearly one hour later at 8:29. We were out on deck to ge a view of the Arctic Circle globe and to attend the crossing ceremony.
Arctic Circle crossing and ceremony – 7:40am

Then we had the Southbound Crossing ceremony celebrating crossing the Arctic Circle.
Taking cod liver oil from a spoon was a throwback to childhood and having a spoonful before leaving for school.
Nesna – arrive at 10:25 am
The first call of the day (forme) was Nesna.
Farewell Gathering – 11 am
Before 11am we were out on deck ready for the farewell talk from the Captain and the Expedition team.
After the talks and glasses of fizz we went aft to watch the passing shoreline.
Sandnessjøen- arrive at 11:45 am
Sandnessjøen gave us a welcome opportunity to stretch our legs after the last 18 hours of rough seas.
Walking along the quay we passed boats and then came to a building decorated with art.
We walked up onto the main street and followed the crowd of other passengers as we explored further.
We came to the statue of Petter Dass by Skule Waksvik.
Down from the main street we came to a car park a street art of a boy and a series of faces.

The Seven Sisters

At the expedition briefing we watched a video of the rough seas and passing an Hurtigruten ship last night.

Brønnøysund – arrive at 3 pm
MS Nordkapp was scheduled to stay in Brønnøysund for almost 2.5 hours.
As we were leaving, I asked one of the Expedition team if we would be closer to Torghatten as we left Brønnøysund. Sadly at this time of year we would not be altering course to get close to see the “hole in the mountain.” Another reason for sticking to the starboard side was that unlike the portside there was no smoking!

Another piece of art from the ship.
Evening meal – 8 pm
Rørvik – arrive at 9 pm
The last port of the day was Rørvik.
On our next to last day of our Coastal Voyage we called at Trondheim in the early morning.
