This was the seventh day of the Hurtigruten Coastal Express. MS Nordkapp was now setting out on going South from Kirkenes to Bergen.
Kirkenes
Back onboard MS Nordkapp we headed to the Explorer Lounge and there had coffee and cake to warm ourselves up and most of all to have rest.
Kirkenes – leave at 12:30 pm

Hornøya
Hornøya is an island to the east of Vardø and it is the easternmost point in Norway.
Vardø – arrive at 4:05 pm
This was our second stop of the day at Vardø.
The ship was docked long enough for us to join the exploration team on a walk to the Vardøhus Fortress.

The roads were covered in ice and we had a lot of trouble staying on our feet.
Then we reached the fortress after this statue looking out to see.
Silhouettes on the ramparts against the setting sun.
The view from the ramparts.
Then we walked back to the dock and the warehouses. There I wanted to find the street art that I had seen on our first visit.
Street Art in Vardø
I explored around the warehouses looking at the street art on the walls.
The art in Vardø that had started my fascination for street art was nowhere to be seen.
I have a dedicated Street Art feed on Instagram here.
After the our evening’s presentation by the exploration team we had a rest before dinner.
Båtsfjord – arrive at 8 pm
I stayed inside eating dinner when MS Nordkapp docked at Båtsfjord.

Out on deck at 9:50 pm.
Northern Lights – 10:11 pm
And there they were – the Northern Lights…
See this blog for more images of the Northern Lights.
Berlevåg – arrive at 10:25 pm
After all the excitement of seeing the Northern lights we did not stay out on deck as the ship entered the port of Berlevåg.
There were no more beautiful skies when I checked at 11:08 pm.
This had been the busiest day of the trip and we looked forward to a good sleep before the next day going back South.
