Day 14: Tuesday 11th July 2023: Baltic

After a busy day in Poland, we were grateful for a sea day to recover.
Out on deck, we could see lots of ships in this busy part of the Baltic.
To continue our rest day we had our lunch delivered to the cabin after 1 pm.
Russian “spy” ship
At around 3 pm we watched as Island Princess passed a Russian ship being shadowed by a German coastguard vessel.
M1063 Bad Bevensen
Later at 4:05 pm we passed another warship. This time it was the German Navy’s Bad Bevensen, a Frankenthal-class mine sweeper.

In the late afternoon we went to the Captain’s Circle. This time we were sat with a couple of “strange” guests. We were again chatting to the German-American lady and the couple joined us at the table. For the next 20 minutes or so we were made to feel very uncomfortable as they completely ignored us. They did not even make eye contact!
The Great Belt Bridge
The Great Belt Bridge came interview at around 7:25 pm. Here’s the pilot boat arriving.
We passed underneath the bridge after 8 pm and all around us other passengers were as interested as we were in the bridge.
Evening on Island Princess
We had reserved a table for two at dinner. Back in our cabin we had a letter explaining the arrangements for Copenhagen. This would be the end of the first 14 days of the cruise in Copenhagen. And would finish the time that we had spent in the Baltic. Then we were looking forward to Norway, Iceland, and Scotland in the next 14 days.
