This is the fifth day of the Hurtigruten Coastal Express going North. After our stop in Bodø, today we stopped at lots of ports before we reached Tromsø.
Open sea warning summary
Stockmarknes – arrive 1:30 am
The first port of the day was Stockmarkness. The Hurtigruten museum was lit up and Nordkapp did not stay long…
Sortland – arrive 2:55 am
I did not have long in the cabin until we reached Sortland.
The daily programme was already ion display near the Explorer cafe.
Risøyhamn – arrive 4:35 am
Continuing my busy night our next port was Risøyhamn.
I watched the headlights of an approaching car to the dock.
Harstad – arrive 7:10 am
In the early morning we docked at Harstad.
Kong Harald – 7:50 am

Finnsnes – arrive 11 am
After a rest and breakfast we arrived at Finnsnes. I joined the other passengers on the quayside to explore in the snow.
Chatting to another passenger, he told me this poster had been here when he last visited Finnsnes many years ago.

Daily briefing – 11:40 am
The daily briefing from the expedition team was late morning as Nordkapp would be docked in Tromsø till later in the day.
TWe watched a video from the BBC’s evening programmes in the 60’s all about THE bar in Tromsø. And about the weather in the Atlantic.
Tromsø – arrive 2:15pm
We were looking forward to our extended stop in Tromsø.
And then we were docked.
And there was a lot of snow on the streets.
Raketten Bar & Pølse
On Storgata we had to visit the Raketten Bar & Pølse has been there for more than 100 years. This is billed as the smallest bar and serves hot dogs as well as bers. We had heard about it at the briefing earlier in the day and true to form the queue was long!
Ølhallen Brewpub in Tromsø
After watching the old BBC report on the pub under the Mack Brewery we wanted to see it for ourselves. We walked back up Storgata until we reached the very unassuming entrance to the Ølhallen Brewpub. The oldest in Tromsø.
These days ladies are allowed in but still no food is served.

Back to the the ship.

MS Vesterålen
I was out on deck early waiting for MS Vesterålen to pass by.
Skjervoy – arrive 10:10 pm
The last port of the day was Skjervoy.
That was it for the day…
The next day would be my first visit to the North Cape…
