Stockmarknes – arrive at 2:25 am
Stockmarkness is the home of the Hurtigruten Museum. This visit we stretched our legs and walked up and down the main street.

On the main street.

The news about the weather – 3:40 pm
In the afternoon briefing we had our fears confirmed about the weather further South and around the Lofoten Islands.
Out on deck

It may have been cold and wet but we decided to get some air before we came to the storm. I have converted the next images to B&W so that the coast can be seen more clearly.
Trollfjorden at 5 pm
Nordkapp visited Trollfjord again. The evening was overcast and we had very little light.
At 7 pm Nordkapp was off Svolvaer and we could see from our portholes that we were just circling. We were in our cabin laid on our bed as this was the safest place to be with the seas being reported at 6 to 7 meters.
The port call at Svolvaer was cancelled.
Then the port call at Stamsund was cancelled also.
A bumpy night
Water was sloshing around in the tubes to our portholes and only added to the noises of bumps and bangs.

At times we were bounced completely clear of our bed. The bang (and shake) as the ship ploughed through each wave was ear shattering. Having a cabin so far forward was not a great place to in such a storm.
And the storm continued ….
The next day promised better weather on our visit to Brønnøysund and the Southbound crossing the Arctic Circle ceremony.
