After thee days at sea we arrived on the island of Lanzarote at Arrecife. After all these sea days we were looking forward to having a walk on the island. Our plan was to spend a leisurely day in Arrecife. Iona was scheduled to be docking at around 9am.
Day 5: Wednesday 12th November 2025: Arrecife, Lanzarote
Iona docked at the “new” terminal.

We had a very late breakfast in the buffet and as we left the ship when crew drills were just starting.
Arrecife
The walk into the town now is past a row of shops and a marina before crossing over a busy road and taking a path around the lagoon. At the top of the lagoon is a whale skeleton.

We walked down the pedestrianised main street. The mannequin at one of the first shops was distinctly aimed at the “broader man”!
The art on one of the side street was related to Covid and encouraging support for each other and mask wearing. We stopped at one of the cafes for an unremarkable drink before we turned back and headed for the lagoon again.

After crossing over the busy road again we headed for the marina. Christmas decorations were being set up in the car park as we passed. We stopped at an almost empty café at the side of the marina for a drink and to try and extend our time off Iona.
Further up the row of shops we went into a clothes shop called Springfields and were pleasantly surprised at both the prices and the quality. I picked up a jumper…
Iona again
Everyone else seemed to have the same idea as us and there was a long queue at security. We ate lunch in the buffet before heading back to our cabin for the rest of the afternoon

Iona left an hour or so later than the scheduled time. Before dinner we looked at the art gallery and this painting by Ziv Cooper called “Winter’s Evening Serenade” caught my eye.

Perhaps on our next visit to Lanzarote we should make an effort and book an excursion? As nether of us enjoyed our few hours in Arrecife , except for the clothes purchased!
Next day Iona was in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria.
