Early Morning
This image was taken on my iPhone early in the morning as we walked to Pen Ponds to watch the deer rut in Richmond Park.
Summary of judge’s comments
… [] what is that chap doing so early in the morning by the lake?
… maybe fishing? You have put him in a silhouette at a point, you could have told us a little bit more about what he is doing []
… another interpretation is that he has gone out there to have a look at the sunrise
… so whatever is happening down at the bottom, I am confused
… now the rest is beautiful, lovely colours and patterns in the sky , a little bit of mist, feels early morning and serene, it is going to be a lovely day

On the way to the shoot
On my first day in Paris in January 2026 I walked from Montmartre back to the 5th. This couple were passing by as I walked towards Les Halles.

… it is good to see a punch mono. has that documentary feel about it that works well with in the moment captures
… you have got this couple walking along with a tripod and presumably with the model at his side []
… you have that interaction between, looks like they are in a bit of a hurry, the photographer does look pleased
… you have captured the moment, a good portrait, well presented and I can see what will happen next
