After Lanzarote the next island Iona docked was Gran Canaria.
Day 6 Thursday 13th November 2025: Las Palmas, Gran Canaria
We were not in a rush to ashore and had a lazy late breakfast. As we we were ready to leave the ship my phone pinged that the Internet had failed at home. For the next hour I was on the phone with VirginMedia support. A replacement router had arrived the day before we left on this trip. With less than a day to install it I had decided to wait until we were back. However, VirginMedia had unilaterally decided to switch the old router off as their algorithms had decided that I had had enough time time to swap routers.
Eventually after one escalation I managed to get the old router switched back on with a deadline for another 14 days before it was turned off again.
From Deck 6 we walked out to the cruise terminal and then down to the quayside. Then headed into the town and through the streets to the promenade.

At Ale-Hop we turned back.

Time for a rest
We sat outside with our drinks and snacks and watched around us.

Without any warning there was a huge gust of wind that carried umbrellas away all around us…

We went into the large shopping mall and did some shopping. The Christmas tree of flamimngos was indeed unusual!

Beautiful skies at 6:11pm over Las Palmas.

This was one of our evenings in the Beach House.

Jon Udry in the theatre

Jon is a comedian and a juggler – and he excelled at both.

Our next port in the Canaries was Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
