This was the first round of the Digital Image Competition at Bracknell Camera Club in the 2025-26 season held on September 22nd 2025. This was an open round with two images allowed to be entered.
After my two year hiatus from Bracknell CC my images were entered in the club league of the competition.
Drinking between the boots
On the last day of visit to Maastricht we called at Antwerp on our way back to Brussels. This lady was enjoying a drink behind a large sculpture. A little processing on my iPhone with Snapseed created this simple B&W image.
Long blonde hair
In August 2025 I attended Camera World Live at Brands Hatch to practise my panning techniques. But on the roof of the visitor’s building I watched the Rotolight demonstrations taking place. I had my telephoto lens for the race cars and this allowed me to capture images of the model who was posing at the opposite end of the roof.
Summary of judge’s comments
…Do we see any character in this lady? […] I am struggling a little bit on character , she looks a bit stand offish []… technique; we have got the background well out of focus , a little bit of frizzy hair down here, makes it look a little bit untidy,
… a couple of small catch lights in her , relatively even lighting which means that we haven’t any strong shadows,
… [ … ] light coming in from her right hand side giving a bit of catchlight on her chin and cheek
… a three quarters view of the model which is good , it is a mistake if you capture more extreme views
The scores
There were 35 images in this round in the Club Division: “Drinking between the boots” scored 7.5 and “Long blonde hair” scored 8.
