This was the fourth round of the Print Trophy competition of the season held on May 7th 2026. This round had “Open” and “Still Life” as themes.
For each image I had to choose a roughly defined “genre” with the added condition that each submitted image must have a different “genre”.
On the tram
I selected “Street” as the genre . . .

There were 17 images in this Open Round and the score was 7.5.
Summary of judge’s comments
… seeing people riding on public transport is a photographer’s magnet
… everything but the three windows of the tram has been cropped, an alternative treatment would have been to put more of the tram in to give us a bit of context
… remember 50% of the marks is about the story telling
… this is quite busy for a monochrome
Ready
I selected “Still Life” as the genre…

There were 17 images in this Open Round and the score was 7.
Summary of judge’s comments
… an image here clearly of a camera, strap draped over the camera, the photographer has chosen a reasonable depth of field, this puts most of the camera in focus
… compositionally we have an oldish camera, a second camera on the left and something I can’t identify on the right
… the title was Ready, so ready for what? so what meanings are there to be considered?
… I like the depth of field, the camera is set in a context
… not much of a story, there several semi related objects
… I am struggling a little bit
