Yesterday we had been in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria and today we were in Santa Cruz, Tenerife.
I was awake and out on the balcony watching as Iona approached the island.

Day 7: Friday 14th November 2025: Santa Cruz, Tenerife
We had a relaxing start to the day and left the ship after 10 am. P&O Azura was home berthed her in Santa Cruz and was docked across the harbour next to the terminal.
Iona was docked on the breakwater opposite behind two other large cruise ships. The shuttle service was limited to passengers who had difficulty walking. For us, this meant a nearly 30 minute walk to get off the breakwater past the three ships!
By 11 am we we ready for a sit down and a coffee. We stopped on Calle de la Luna and sat outside sheltering under an umbrella.

Further up this street is the Plaza José Arozena Paredes where the Super Dino supermarket is. After our call there we explored somemore places in the town.

The MSC ship was taking on guests and these were the suitcases waiting to be loaded as we started our walk back along the breakwater.

This ship was now docked at the start of our walk.
Afternoon
We were back on Iona by 1 pm – time for lunch and a rest!
We had an announcement from the Captain that due to the weather our scheduled call at Madeira was now cancelled. Instead the ship now would have a day in Lisbon and our visit to Cadiz would be moved to a day earlier.
The ship was delayed leaving as bunkering was running late.
Chesney Hawkes in the Limelight
We started queuing for the Limelight Club at 6:20 pm and we were at the end of very long queue. The Limelight is where guests can dine and see a show. Some of the tables do have a limited view due to the support pillars – hence the queue to be in early!
We didn’t have support columns but were placed to one side of the stage.

Chesney Hawke’s father was in The Tremeloes and between songs he gave us an interesting commentary on his life…

K-Lo in the theatre
We next went to the theatre to hear K-Lo sing and deliver lots of humour between songs – a very different performer than usual.
On our way out of the theatre we stopped to look at the paintings of one of my favourite artists, Fabian Perez.

The first concert from the Flyrights would not be taking place as they would not be boarding the ship as planned. Overnight we had a clock change for our visit to Cadiz.
Day 8: Saturday 15th November 2025:At Sea
The bad weather around Madeira was behind us and we sat on the balcony reading.

More reading in the afternoon but later the wind was at Force 7 and there was a 4 metre swell!
We visited a quiet Crows Nest bar after dinner. The ship was coping very well with the swell.
The next day we would be in Cadiz one day earlier than originally planned.
