After our day in Cadiz we had our “unscheduled” stop in Lisbon.
Then we passed under the bridge.
Day 10: Monday 17th November 2025: Lisbon, Portugal
It was raining so went for breakfast and waited.
We walked into the city past people sheltering from the rain…

Time for a coffee and a nata in a small cafe on Rua das Portas de Santo-Antao. We sat outside and watched everyone pass by.
Gloria funicular
After the terrible accident in September we walked to the start of the funicular to pay our respects.
As we walked back through the square the rain started again.

Rua do Carmo
From the square we walked up this pedestrianised street until we could see the Santa Justa Lift. Around the steps leading to the lift are lots of street art. The main pieces being
- “Pelicans” created by the Portuguese artist Bordalo II.
- “Sofia” created by the street artist Superlinox.
Some of these images were taken with my 15mm fish-eye lens.
Once over the top of the street we walked down until we came to Rua de Sao Nicolau. The art shop, as always, had lots of interesting art on display.

When we reached Commercial Square we walked through the galleries back towards the ship.
Evening on Iona

From the ship we had a closer look at the drainage works below us.
Before dinner we had these views of Lisbon below us.
Ben Francis
From Wales, Ben sang a songs from Elton John, Tome Jones and Bryan Adams.
And finally…

Day 11: Tuesday 18th November 2025: At Sea
Our plan for this sea day was to take it easy. We had a special Peninsular lunch where we tried not to eat too much as it was a formal evening with another special meal.
This was a formal evening and we ate at the “Chefs Table” upstairs. This was a section of the buffet cordoned off for diners to enjoy the formal meal. After our meal we went to the theatre to see Shellyann.
Shellyann
As always on Iona the shows had to be booked so we had made sure to arrive early in the theatre. Shellyann was also from Wales. She sang songs by Whitney Houston, Adele and more.
Waht a performance she gave us!
And finally (again) …
Our next port was Vigo in Spain.
